Barena Venezia was founded in 1993 by Sandro Zara, who was joined by Massimo Pigozzo to design the very first Barena’s Collection. The brand grew significantly season after season, extending to womenswear in 2008 when Francesca Zara, daughter of Sandro, entered in the family business as Barena Women’s creative director. While keeping a fabric-first ethos from the very begining, MassimoPigozzo and Francesca Zara build each collection from the ground up, starting by looking for unique materials and then basing their designs off the fabrics they find, often using original early 20th century patterns from the now rich brand Archive.
This Italian brand offers a constantly evolving selection of sportswear enhanced by prestigious tailoring. Primarily sourced from Italian and British mills, Barena's carefully selected fabrics are machine washable, regardless of their composition – cotton, linen, or wool. Matching unstructured trousers and jackets; fleece or crew-neck sweaters; mid-length castorine coats; vibrant prints and checks contrasted with understated twills and burlap define the Barena identity, bringing a playful touch to the world of classic clothing.
